Tax Planning is all of the tax activity that happens outside of filing annual taxes. When you look ahead for your taxes you can adjust course before the end of the year and avoid the surprise tax bill. Tax planning, not tax filing is the best way to approach reducing your taxes. Specific examples include:
For tax filing I offer two options for clients: Online and in Person. Online tax filing involves video conferencing, uploading and scanning documents for submission. For signature and filing of the returns is done with electronic signatures. In person tax filing is something special, the way I do it. We use boardroom space at the various resorts in the Sevierville, TN area to meet with our tax clients, which provides a location and experience above and beyond your local tax provider. You can meet with me and get your taxes within the few days that you spend in the area. In addition to income tax filing I work with clients on Sales tax, Franchise tax, Personal Property and Payroll taxes. In the event that letters and audit requests come in from tax agencies, I am always happy to work with clients on dealing with those as well. Pricing for Tax Filing is $366/hr and varies greatly depending on the type and complexity. I do provide estimates and returns start at about $400 up to about $3000 depending on complexity. There are varying levels of bookkeeping that a business can do, ranging from a C 'good enough' to A+ 'audit ready'. I only perform an A+ 'audit ready' standard but will consult with businesses doing any standard. You can read more about various levels of bookkeeping here. If you are looking to do your own bookkeeping and get reviews or help when you get stuck that is best taken care of through a Business Advisory or Training arrangement. Bookkeeping is provided using either the Xero or QuickBooks Online accounting systems. The accounting system provides the base and then the client can move up to add on applications and systems design. Bookkeeping coding can be done on a cash basis or accrual basis according to tax standards. Reports are produced as .pdf files along with video reports. Clients can add in additional services such as cleaning up old books, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and invoicing for $133/hr Pricing for bookkeeping is variable and at the rate of $133/hr. It depends on the amount of transactions, quality of information and how often the client would like reporting done (weekly, monthly, etc.) Clients will spend $90/month for small, simple businesses to $800/month for weekly meetings with larger businesses. I provide bookkeeping training for clients that want to do their own books. That training can involve how to setup a bookkeeping system, how to record transactions, how to fix neglected books or how to record payroll. I train people to work as fast as I do on their books, and give away the tricks that I've learned over the years. As such I only train owners or their employees, I don't train contractors or third parties to be my competitors. I have also been asked to help review self prepared returns, that review usually involves training someone on how to complete various tax forms correctly. Pricing for training is $599/hr though clients will often use only 1 hour session at a time. Its difficult to retain what is learned from sessions any longer than that. Business Advisory services are the catch all services for things that aren't specifically Tax or Bookkeeping. Some examples of advisory services I provide for clients include:
Pricing is $366/hr, the same rate as tax services. Some advisory services will require legal advice which I cannot provide but do have attorneys that can assist. |
